The Institute of Cartopology offers tailored educational programs for curious minds — from young adventurers to seasoned experts. With hands-on workshops and lectures, we explore mapping in unique locations.
From our home base in Vaals, Berghut Halverwege, the village and landscape become living classrooms. Students help chop wood, maintain the garden, drink tea while document their experiences in maps, and learn by being present in the landscape and the household that sustains it.
For over a decade, we have guided students throughout Europe, from Helsinki to Barcelona and Brighton to Vienna, covering disciplines such as architecture, urban planning, geography, arts, and social sciences. In every location, we adhere to our three core guiding principles (see 'about' for more on these).
