Hüttenkost

In 2026, Berghut Halverwege is open on the third and fourth weekend of every month: Thursdays from 17:00–22:00, and Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10:00–17:00. In addition, there are special opening hours in connection with events and activities. During these hours, you’ll find everything you might need halfway up the Vaalserberg: good coffee and tea, soft drinks, and sweet treats such as cake or waffles. Depending on the season, we serve warming options like hot chocolate or refreshing ones like ice cream. And of course, there is proper food too: mountain-worthy, wholesome, and filling meals such as freshly made soup and sandwiches.

Everything we serve is vegan. We choose this not only because plant-based food is better for people, animals, and the planet, but also because it is the most inclusive option, respecting dietary preferences rooted in religious traditions or other personal principles.

We are constantly developing new recipes in collaboration with Moritz Scholten, an expert in vegan cooking. Our menu always includes a few variations on classic mountain dishes, such as our now much-loved Kaiserschmarrn, while also exploring very different inspirations and ingredients like tofu and seitan. Every weekend brings something new to taste.
