Bivouac
As befits a true mountain hut, Berghut Halverwege offers a simple place to spend the night. High in the roof of the hut is a modest bivouac for one or two guests, overlooking both the Vaalserberg and the Schneeberg. The bivouac is not a hotel room or a bed & breakfast, but a basic overnight shelter that forms part of the mountain hut experience. It is intended for walkers, cyclists, artists, researchers, volunteers and participants in the activities of Berghut Halverwege and the Institute of Cartopology who wish to extend their visit by one night. As in many mountain huts, the emphasis is on simplicity, hospitality and respect for the surrounding landscape rather than on commercial accommodation. The bivouac offers electricity, heating and hot and cold running water (no shower). Toilet facilities are available on the ground floor of the mountain hut. Towels, blankets and bed linen are provided.
A stay is limited to one overnight stay. If you would like to stay in the bivouac, please send an email to mail@cartopology.institute indicating your preferred date and the number of guests (maximum two). As Berghut Halverwege contains only one bivouac and the sleeping place primarily supports the activities of the mountain hut, every request is considered individually. If your stay can be accommodated, you will receive a confirmation together with a request for an overnight contribution.
The overnight contribution is €34 per person, including tourist tax (€3.05 per person). Your contribution directly goes to the upkeep and maintenance of the mountain hut.
